Hey my computer is doing the weirdest thing I've seen. The computer starts normal and does everything it's suppose to, but when i log in it will after 2-5 min. shut down and restart. Now I've checked the task manager and it loads up a lot of processes and the system idle goes down to 0. Now I was convinced that was the problem until my friend made a confession about looking up naughty things and may have a virus. Now I have no idea, it could have a virus, then again the virus probably won't let me do anything so i still think it the processes. Can anyone help?

Yes in safe mode it still runs, right now i removed a lot of "junk" programs that were in the computer and now it stays on twice as long but still shuts down after half-a-hour.

So we are not jumping all around the place, I prefer to start by eliminating the infection side of things.

Run ESET & post the log please. This scan may take a while, so please be patient.

Why Would I Ever Need an Online Virus Scanner?
I already have an antivirus program installed, isn't that enough?

Once onto a machine, malware can disable antivirus programs, prevent antimalware programs from downloading updates, or prevent a user from running antivirus scans or installing new antivirus software or malware removal tools. At this point even though you are aware the computer is infected, removal is very difficult.
5: Why does the ESET Online Scanner run slowly on my computer?
If you have other antivirus, antispyware or anti-malware programs running on your computer, they may intercept the scan being performed by the ESET Online Scanner and hinder performance. You may wish to disable the real-time protection components of your other security software before running the ESET Online Scanner. Remember to turn them back on after you are finished.
17: How can I view the log file from ESET Online Scanner?

The ESET Online Scanner saves a log file after running, which can be examined or sent in to ESET for further analysis. The path to the log file is "C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt". You can view this file by navigating to the directory and double-clicking on it in Windows Explorer, or by copying and pasting the path specification above (including the quotation marks) into the Start ? Run dialog box from the Start Menu on the desktop.

thx for all the feed back, however I couldn't get back to "johnw's" reply, because I fixed the problem. Turns out I had a lot of unnecessary junk files and apps I didn't need. I put the computer in safe mode and went into the start up to clean it up and deleted a lot of stuff; thus when I turned it on it had no starting problems!
