Computer Restrictions

Dell / Dimension e521
June 21, 2010 at 09:56:58
Specs: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, 1.903 GHz / 1918 MB
I have bought my parents desktop system. it is an E521 Desktop. Win XP Home,
It said the user name was the computer Admin, however this is not the case.
Each time I try to do a simple task of changing the home page though Internet Options or adding software, it keeps telling me that there are restrictions on this computer and to contact the system administrator.
“This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Contact the system administrator “
The desktop was never used in an office, The computer was direct from there ISP service to the tower.
How do I remove this restriction of it does not prompt for the System Admin when I want to make simple changes.

ask your parents what the administrator password is. Then you can change your account to belong to the administrators group.

They have no clue what it is. My parents said they never added any restrictions, it was like that when they had it from Dell.

It is logged as computer administrator, which is why I can't understand where or what I have to do to remove them

It sounds like this computer is a rebuilt or it was returned and resold. If this is still fairly new, bring it back or call tech support if purchased direct. This definitely would fall under warranty repair or replacement, or at least free tech support on this problem.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
If all else fails, read instructions.
