computer crashes during fresh install

Specs: Windows XP, 3.0ghz/512ram
during fresh install computer gives me the blue screen of death ,is this a driver problem and how can i install it while i do a fresh install

Why were you re-installing Windows? Do you have a SATA hard drive?

the machine wasn't booting up so i tried to install a fresh copy of windows XP and yes it is a SATA HD

WinXP doesn't support SATA controllers so you must provide them when installing WinXP to a SATA hard drive. If you don't have a floppy drive then you can slipstream the drivers into the files on your WinXP CD and then burn a modified copy. nliteos can do that for you. Get nliteos at the link below.
