January 27, 2010 at 01:47:34
Specs: Windows XP
I have a slave drive connnected to a xp pro box. The slave is xp home. I ran spybot search and destryoy and it cleaned it allright. Now cant logon on in safe mode or normal mode. cant logon with administrator. found the following on the net

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon : Userinit was set to C:\Windows\system32\winlogon32.exe and it should be set to C:\Windows\system32\userinit.exe

Wondering if I can change the value on the slave??

Are you dual-booting XP Home & XP Pro? Which edition is it that you cannot log into?

... download, save unzip and create cd from the "iso"

http://www.hirensbootcd.net/

... then use one of the "Registry Tools" when you bootup into minixp (gui) to mount the remote Registry!

do a repair install of xp home on the home system. You will waste your time chasing reg entries.
