I recently downloaded AVG scan for errors. My computer shut off and when it restarted it went to where you could start from last known configuration and safe mode etc. I tried those and nothing happened. Now I am stuck at the initilization and I can only get to the Pheonix Bios by pushing delete key. I tried every order to boot from and there is always an error reading. I do not have a windows xp cd and when I try pushing or holding the F8 key nothing happens. Don't know what else to do.
All the signs your hard drive died or you lost your mbr. Can you go into the bios and do a hard drive detect? Does the bios see it?
If it does then perhaps its just the drive is missing the master boot record. Usual sign for this is a flashing cursor in the upper left corner of a black screen.
You would need to get a xp cd and boot into recovery console to run fixmbr and fixboot.

How to properly post a question:
I have a cursor flashing on bottom left corner
It does acknowledge the hard drive and my cursor is in the bottom left corner.
That is good news. You only lost your mbr. You have to get a xp disk so you can boot into recovery console and run the utilities fixmbr and fixboot.
