can't save laptop Windows XP Power option properties...

Specs: Windows XP
Hi. I can't configure my laptop with XP professional to go into hibernation. I noticed that whenever the laptop starts up, it would have a different power scheme. How do I "force" it to come up to a power scheme of my choice all the time? Thank you.

Did you choose "Portable/Laptop" in the Power Schemes? Did you click on the Hibernate tab & make sure hibernation in enabled? Did you click Apply?

If you HAVE done all the things riider mentioned, and you STILL have the problem of it re-setting Power Options after restarting the computer, if you have installed Windows from scratch, the ACPI features of the mboard including the ability of Hibernate to work properly may NOT work properly until AFTER you have loaded the main chipset drivers for the mboard. Usually those are avalable in the downloads for your specfic model on the brand name system's web site.

It also may be a bios setting issue.

Hang up and live.
