Can't save avi files

March 25, 2010 at 15:45:26
Specs: Windows XP
I have been using a morphing program (Ulead MorphStudio Special Edition) for a while without any problems. I save my work as an avi file or as frames. If I save it as frames, I use PhotoLapse or JPGVideo to save them in an avi file.

For no apparent reason I can’t do that anymore. When I try to save them as an avi file the MorphStudio tells me: An error occurred trying to write to the output file. JPGVideo tells me it: Failed to open file C:\….\JPGVideo.avi and gives me almost the same message as MorphStudio: An error occurred trying…, and PhotoLapse tells me: Could not open C:\…\TimeLapse.avi for writing. I also tried using my FLV to Avi converter but it said: Couldn’t find FFmpeg encoder!

What went wrong? Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I can copy or move video files and of course have no problem saving doc files in MS Word. So this is not a general can’t save anything problem. My antivirus program doesn’t show any viruses. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If you still have the CD or installer, I would recommend uninstall and reinstall the program(s) fresh, apparently there is some error right now with the program. This will not effect any files you currently have saved (won't delete them, but probably will not fix them either). If there are updated versions available for download (without additional cost), consider them.

Thank you for the suggestion, but that’s not it either. I reinstalled every program before I posted my question.
