Hello all, I backed up all my important data to an external hard drive and simply wanted to reformat my computer to scratch to solve a few other problems it was having but every time I attempt to boot the computer up using the windows xp disk it loads the files from the cd and does the setup or whatever, and then right before it starts anything and moves onto the next part it gives me this error msg:
http://desmond.yfrog.com/Himg196/sc...This happens before it even begins to install anything and is just checking the hard drive. I then end up having to reset. I've tried different copies of windows XP to see if it was just the CD and none worked.
Have you set your bios to boot from CD first?
What where the other problems you were having that made you want to reformat?
If you want to reformat your computer, be sure to back up everything you want to keep first. Each operating system formats drives differently, so check the command codes for the OS you intend to use on that drive.
In set up when windows asks where you wish to install. Delete the partition, then create a new partition and tells windows to install there. Sounds like you have a virus, hopefully its not in the ram. Deleting the partition gets rid of any old nasties on the hard drive, simply re installing over it does not.
It would appear from the message your pc is a OEM and the xp disks you have don't contain the correct pci driver. You need to get the OEM version of xp for your system
how to fix my windows that can not be start and if i try to reformat it there is a error
