Specs: Windows XP
Some years ago I've burned some CD-R discs
with WinOnCD 3.6 on Windows 98. This
product of Cequadrat uses PacketCD. Now I
have a new computer running Windows XP. I
can't read the old discs on XP. My 'official'
packetCD version does not run on XP. I have
tried another version of packedCD (from
Cequadrat) which is designed for Windows NT,
but this crashes my computer (blue screen) at

Does anybody know a way to read the
packetCD discs on XP

There are plenty of way of reading packet CDs on Windows XP, unfortunately they are all different and not compatible with each other. There was never a standardised way of writing CDs in packets.

You might try Nero INCd but I wouldn't hold up much hope. A current version of the software that wrote them is only going to be the likely solution.

Don't use any "packet writing" applications in future when making a CD. It's a very unreliable method especially for long term storage. CD-RW discs are already unreliable, but even more so if you format them for packet-writing. Convenient - yes, reliable - no way!

I never use CD-RW or DVD-RW discs for anything. They are too risky for putting my precious pictures, software and documents on. CD-R & DVD-R are the only type I will use.
