Are you trying to install XP over Windows 7?

Just get a virtual machine for the windows 7.

Yes, I understand that.

A virtual machine (vm) will allow you to run windows 7 and at the same time allow you to install and run xp.

You might be able to get all the drivers needed for your xp. If you are luck enough then you have to slipstream the drivers to the xp cd. Not worth the effort if you have a vm supported system. It is not easy to install xp on a new system.
