can't install windows xp + asms

February 27, 2011 at 14:39:35
Specs: Windows XP
A window pops up stating the the file 'asms' is needed. It appears not to be on the disc. Have tried to load windows from a jump drive, and even from a cd player attached to the computer to no avail. Is this because it's a Dell version of XP being installed on an Acer Computer? Is there anything I can do to solve this dilemma? I've got discs with windows fixes, plus drivers, but can't seem to get the cd drive to open these. The machine insists on continuing to install xp, even though it can't do so...

Probably an OEM issue. Can you slave or master the drive to a Dell, install, and then place it in the Acer?

The cd rom is not reading the cd or if a burned copy the file does not exist.

Clean the cd (no finger prints)and see in another computer if the file can be found
