Specs: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, P4 3.06 GHz / 512 MB
I can't download updates from the windows update website. I get this error:

Error number: 0x80248011
The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. Take the following steps to try solving the problem:
Refresh the page.
In Internet Explorer, delete your Temporary Internet Files by going to the Tools menu and clicking Internet Options.
Close and then re-open Internet Explorer.

I've tried clearing my temporary files and cookies but it doesn't work. I've tried this other solution suggested by microsoft; stopping the update service, renaming the folder "SoftwareDistribution" in the windows directory and restarting the service again, but that didn't work either.

Please help!!!

Try putting these three addresses in IE Trusted Sites:

http://*.update.microsoft.com
http://download.windowsupdate.com
https://*.update.microsoft.com

What's the time?

Send Microsoft a error report including any error message you are recieving ! They actually supply free support when it comes to their own updates and the problem you are having . They will have you run a diagnostic test thru a link they provide and hopefully they will find the problem for you . When I use microsoft support in referance to a problem with the NET Framwork 1.1 update they responded quickly to my request for help ! Do a google search for Microsoft Technical Support ,then report your problem to them . Cant hurt to try .
Good Luck Nick

Thanks a lot for the suggestion Nick. I did send them a report but haven't received a response so far. I think there might be a virus in my computer. Should I post a hijackthis log here?
