"but not 7"
Have you changed the bios boot order?
Who made the 7 disk?

Yes I've changed the boot order. I bought the disc on amazon. It loaded on another computer and everything went well.

How far do you get when it tries to boot from the CD?
Do you get, Press any key ( you only have a few seconds to do this )?

"boot from cd" that's all I get. Unless I put the xp install in. When I put xp in it load up right away.

"boot from cd"
That means, with the CD in the drive, you reboot.
The bios must be set in the boot section, to boot from the CD/DVD first.
Press F10 to save.

I double checked bios. First boot is cd/dvd.
What I don't understand is why the xp install disc works.

You have good handle on things, the disk is not bootable.
What are you using to post here?
If Windows, what version?

I forgot you said this.
"It loaded on another computer and everything went well"
In the bios, disable fast startup, or words to that effect.

Also, make sure the bios is set to Legacy Boot.

"It loaded on another computer and everything went well"
Having another rethink, it is probably burnt to GPT, whilst the older comp wants MBR.
Or, even Vice Versa.

Tried your ideas and it's still not booting.
My granddaughter said I had to quit for the night. I think I'll try a flash drive tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks for your input. Have a good night.

"My granddaughter said I had to quit for the night"
Gets hard to quit, when your head is keen to finish.

"Have a good night"

XP is on a CD, Win7 is on a DVD. Do you have a DVD drive? Look at the face of the drive tray.
