Can't Find CD-Rom

January 26, 2012 at 09:22:33
Specs: Windows XP Service PAck 2
Have a Compaq Presario 5000 Deskrop PC, lost my cd- not listed in device manager or anywhere else on computer, only showed up when I put in my Scandisk cruzer-(that would show up as F: CD-Rom), changed drive letters, uninstalled U3 , reformatted the scandisk to save info on, deleted lower and upper filters, blah-blah, still no CD--any suggestions- oh I also did a repair install on XP- Any thoughts- Thanks, Glor

Look at disk management in the control panel. If it's not there, the drive is probably bad.

How do you know when a politician is lying? His mouth is moving.

glor

The BIOS (setup) will not indicate any drive letters. Those are assigned by Windows. You evidently have not looked in the BIOS screens.
