Solved cant copy my files on to an exterior enclosure

Specs: Windows XP, 2 GHz / 3261 MB
while trying to put all my files and folders on to an exterior encloser as a complete backup it said 28 mins but before that time came a message appeared stating "cannot copy
perfib_perfdata_55: " it is being used by another person or program. Close any program that might be using the file and try again. Please what am i doing wrong? It does not appear that the copying has worked.

perfib_perfdata files are being used by Windows so they cannot be copied.
They are performance data files.

There is no need to back them up anyway as they are re-created every time you start Windows, so it's pointless backing them up even if you could.

They are usually located inside your Local Settings/Temp folder which does not need to be backed up either, it's pointless backing up temporary files. Exclude the Temp folder when you are backing up your data and you won't get that error.
