can't burn DVD -R/+R. Burner only works RW

Specs: Windows XP
I have Windows XP. I am using Adobe Premier Elements 4 and 7, Ulead Movie Facory 6 and 7,and Corel Video Studio X3 to make movie projects and when I put a blank disc in to burn it it only works on Sony DVD +RW. In the past it would work with any brand such as TDK DVD -R, Tyuiden DVD- R, Memorex DVD- R, and DVD+R and even Sony DVD - R and DVD+R. but now it won't do any of those except Sony DVD+RW. However I can burn an audio CD with no problem.before I would burn a dvd.. all my drivers would read D drive DVD RW and so on. Is there a way to get the drivers to stop saying DVD RW??

Sounds like it might be a burning software issue. Try a freebie called CDBurnerXP:

No matter what burning program i use.. the drop down list only reads RW and only burns RWs. not DVD -R/+R.. why is that?

Sorry, I don't think I've quite got my head around this.

How many CD/DVD drives have you got?
Where exactly is the drop down you are referring to?
