Cannot run SFC /scannow

April 8, 2011 at 10:02:49
Specs: Windows XP, Pentium4
I have altered the registry to enable SFC /scannow to run without XP installation disk. The folder i386 is on the root drive C, And in the registry High Key_local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\SourcePath is directed to C:\. But despite this I cannot run SFC as I am asked to insert XP installation in CD drive. Please inform me what I am doing wrong

Thank you. These are the instructions I followed. But I must be doing something wrong, in giving the path.

Borrow a friends real xp install disk. Best if it is service pack 3 but any will fix it to a basic state. You don't use the xp to install just to compare the files.
