cannot open /mydocuments/attachments

Specs: xp pro sp2, dual core/2 gigs
I have got 40 gigs of movies in that file
When windows starts I open the file but after 3/4 minutes it will not open .

The cpu is at 85/95 per cent

running xp 32 bit dual core 2 gigs ram

xstation777, what is the file suffix? IE will open most (not all) things, but some movies have suffixes that it can't handle. Irfanview (free @: http://www.irfanview.com ) can open lots of graphics and is an excellent proggie.
If even that fails, take a look at what opens what @: http://filext.com/ and be sure you're using the right critter to open it.

I doubt you have 40gigs in one file. I suspect you mean folder?

Have you run chkdsk /f to make sure of no disk or file corruption?

you are correct is not a file that will not open it is the attchments folder/directory that will not open
ok here is what happens if i right click on the attachments directory and select "explore'
it does open after about 5-6 minutes

Try getting rid of the "Thumbnails" view plus all the default M$ nonsense in
• View
• Choose Details...

All you really need is the Name of the file, the Size, what Type and the Date... what else would you really need? Once you highlight a single file, you can then access the properties. One might even argue that Name is enough, but that limits the type of sorting you can do.
