cannot install norton 360 on to second pc

December 13, 2011 at 13:44:06
Specs: Windows XP
Norton 360 Version 5.0 Gold edition - installed in my my new laptop when bought at Pcworld. I was given a Norton card with installation details for installation on to another computer This Norton Version I bought allows it to be installed on to two other computers. I cannot get the right page or the location on the Norton websites to install.
I have had Norton before on this second computer, but allowed it to run out of it's 1 year contract maily because I was planning to re-install the 360 Version when I bought it later - only a matter of 4 days.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Hetti

Symantec has pretty good support. If you ask the right questions or search for the right thing you'll find the answers to your problems.

E.g.

"I have had Norton before on this second computer, but allowed it to run out of it's 1 year contract maily because I was planning to re-install the 360 Version when I bought it later - only a matter of 4 days."

Symantec's Norton products have had a copy protection feature since about 2009.
When you install one of their products using the proper code, information is transmitted over the internet in the background to the Symantec web site and the fact that the code you used to install the software has been used is made note of on the Symantec web site somewhere.

When you attempt to install the same software again, the installation software checks in the background on the Symantec web site to see if the code you entered while installing the software has already been used
If the code has already been used, you cannot use the same code again to install the same product.
I don't know if the situation has changed since 2009, but my brother had to contact the Symantec web site to have that code removed from the web site so that he could install the product again - it was about ten days before he got a reply to his email message about that - by then, he had installed some other FREE anti-malware software product.

"This Norton Version I bought allows it to be installed on to two other computers. "

If you still have a code that hasn't been used yet , use that code while installing the software rather than the one you used before

You may need to contact the Symantec web site to have then free up the code you used before so that you can use it again in the future.
........

You DO NOT need to BUY anti-malware software these days. There are many good anti-malware programs that offer a FREE version.
E.g. AVG 2012

No one anti-malware software product can remove all malware these days in any case.

Symantec live chat is excellent. Open the norton program and click support and try the live chat and tell them what's going on. I renew my norton online and then after I install on one computer I go to the other computer and open norton and click account and log in and that is where I get the second download and if you have a 3rd computer then you would do the same.
