Cannot access certain web pages

Specs: Microsoft Windows XP Professional, 2.127 GHz / 2045 MB
Any advice would be appreciated.

Certain pages I try to access will not load and there doesn’t seem to be any pattern to this. Some of the pages are ones that I have accessed previously without a problem. The Microsoft support web pages are one example !

Other sites are very slow to load whereas others load without any issue.

I have run CCLeaner, Spybot, Super Anti Spyware, Trojan Remover, Kaspersky Internet Security and there were no issues.

“netsh winsock reset” has not made any difference. I have the latest Java, Shockwave and Flash installed.

Installed Chrome in place of Explorer but this did not make any difference, the same sites were inaccessible.

Have disabled anti virus and firewall to see if that made any difference but no change.

This is driving me insane……..

XP SP3
IE 8

Did you have this problem before upgrading to IE 8 ? You could roll back to IE 7(or use Firefox), but before that you might try resetting Internet Explorer:

Did you check in device manager for issues with your network card (or dial-up modem)?
What about a driver update for above?
If not, (I know you scanned) something that prevents you from Microsoft's update site sounds like nasty-ware to me.

Thabnks for the replies.

IE8 reset and still no resolution.

Is Firefox likely to provide a solution where the installation of Chrome didn't ?

Thanks

"Is Firefox likely to provide a solution where the installation of Chrome didn't ?" It's probably worth a try.
