Can not open HTML documents

August 18, 2012 at 14:29:10
Specs: Windows XP, 2.96 GB
Over the years I have created scores of html documents for a couple of websites. Now, I am unable to open any html document with any one of 6-7 software. When I try, I get a message "Cannot open File C:\xxxxxx" or "an error occurred trying to open 'C:\xxxxxxx'". I can't even copy or move one of those documents . When I try to I get the message "Cannot copy xxx: Access is denied".

Ok, what do the error message tell us?
"Cannot copy xxx: Access is denied"

The user you are logged in with, has no permission to access the file(s).

When I attempt to open a document with 1stPage2000 I get the following message "Cannot open file C:\1stPage2000\1stPage2006\1stPage2000-templer-current\3amigos.htm".

When I try to open a document with CSE HTML Validator I get "CAN'T OPEN DOCUMENT. An error occurred tying to open 'C:\1stPage2000\1stPage2006\1stPage2000\templer-current\3amigos.htm'. The document may not exist or it may have been renamed, deleted, moved, or temporarily locked by an anti-vius program. More info:Cannot open file 'C:\1stPage2000\1stPage2006\1stpage2000\templer-current\3amigos.htm'. Acces is denied"

The document is there, not renamed or moved.

What a mess.

thanks

Ok, so what's about the "...or temporarily locked by an anti-vius program.." thing?

I can't figure out what all the messages mean, but since last night when I changed the name of the directory, all documents are not accessable by all my software. Thanks for your interest..

I don't think that is too surprising. Best change the name back to what it was.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Sorry, I meant all documents are now accessable.
