Hello, you know when you open a directory in XP it has those little shortcuts on the left? Screenshot:

Is it possible to remove that section so that the items in that directory will appear in that space instead? I realized that I never use those shortcuts, and sometimes when copying files over it would be great if I had more room to view more files. Thanks :)

Haha, every time I post a topic I find the answer :) You have to go to Control Panel, Folder Options, and select the option to view classic folders and it will remove that :)

EDIT

Actually, it also changes some folder icon arrangements too like in the Control Panel which is what I do not want. Is it possible to just remove the sidebar options in the directories only?

Everyone has their own preferences. Personally, I like the Common Tasks sidebar. I don't use it often, but I do use it. I don't think it can be customized for indivdual folders though...it's either On or Off. What I don't like is opening a folder & seeing HUGE icons. I always change the View setting to List, plus I always enable File Extensions.

If you don't like the Control Panel icon arrangement when using Classic Folders, try right clicking in an open space & select Arrange By, then click Name (you may have to do it twice).
