It would help to know the model number & specs. If your PC currently doesn't have Windows on it, you might want to consider something other than XP. If it originally came with XP, the original owner (you?) should have created the recovery discs shortly after the computer was purchased. The files & program necessary to create the discs are on the original HDD.

You might want to consider trying Linux. Mint 18.1 Xfce or ZorinOS 12.1 Lite would be two possibilities. If you have 2GB RAM or less, get the 32-bit version. Both are free.

Check the support page for your model. Yours is probably too old but for a period of time after a model was released you could order the disks. Or you can use a generic XP installation disk and after the install, download whatever additional drivers you need from compaq/hp.

--Yes but it's a dry heat.

It is usually coming with a recovery disk. You could try to browse to their website and then download the drivers that fit to your computer, you could burn it to the disk if you need it someday. That is the only thing that you can do.
