Boots up in Red Screen

May 31, 2011 at 08:53:39
Specs: Windows XP, Gateway Media Center GT5082/1.87 RAM
I installed "Professor Teaches" software Dvd not realizing it was for ME, I have XP. When I realized it I discontinued installation. Message came up to reboot for changes to take place, it didn't ask if I wanted to keep changes. You have to cut your computer off sometime, so I went ahead not know what to do. Well, it started up in RED screen instead of black. Everything you can see a little red in it, such as, the little x at the upper right corner to close a screen. Or the arrow to scroll up or down, even some of the letters on the screen, color around the edges of the screen with what ever wallpaper you choose. I have Autumn and you can see red spots in the tree bark, etc. I tried System Restore but it didn't help. I tried changing things in Display in Control panel. Please help!

What you describe may not be related to the aborted program install.

You can start with going to a system restore point before the program install
Review your video card driver and settings
Try a different monitor to see if the red goes away.

Answers are only as good as the information you provide.

I already tried system restore. You said review your video card driver and settings, you forgot to tell me how and what I am looking for or to do after I find it?
I don't have another monitor, but this monitor is only 3/4 months old. Please give me more explicit instructions because I don't know a lot about computers.
Thank you,
