could you explain what you mean by bootable backup? Do you mean a restore image?
Do you mean backup software that is bootable?
Do you mean something like knoppix or bartpe?
Ghost, Acronis, G4L, Barts/ubcd4win/ linux cds and maybe many more. It may even be possible to make a Vista or Win7 perform some basic tasks. I support the 'Everybody Draw Mohammed Day'. A religion doesn't deny my freedom.
How are those "bootable backups"?
Do we even know what the question is?
Acronis and Ghost can make an image of your boot drive to DVDs or an external drive. If your boot drive gets messed up or dies, you can restore the (bootable) image to the drive. The three most important things in computing:
1. Backups, 2. Backups and 3. Backups.
Perhaps these questions will highlight what I am trying to get at. By "bootable backup" do you mean;
1. you boot something other than your hard drive to do a backup?
2. the backup program is bootable?
3. your restore is on a cd/dvd and its bootable?
4. you want to image your drive and have that image bootable?
5. the image software disk is bootable?
A bootable back up; make a backup or copy of the drive in question to cd/dvd - even an external HD; install inside a football (whatever shape you prefer). Then proceed to boot it frimly with your left/right foot to test...? But seriously...Wanderer's questions are what the OP needs to address/answer first?
