Hello. This is gonna sound lame, but someone put a picture of me that pops up during boot. I don't have a customizable boot program and am unable to figure out how to remove it. It happens right after post and before the Win welcome screen. If anyone knows how to remove it, I will vote for you in the next election! And, sorry for my computer illiteracy. I've tried the KB here and cannot find anything related. Thank you in advance for any help.

JGZebby, SWAG, could it be a Trojan? Perhaps you need to clean? Another thought is your background. Take a look at your control panel (Start>settings) and 'display'. Perhaps you simply need to change the background?

Hey Ed In Texas. I thought the same thing, a virus or worm of some sort. I've scanned with Norton, Kapursky, Spybot S&D, and even in safe mode. My desktop/background settings are stable and have not changed for about six months. Even if I change them, the picture still comes up at boot. It's like a real quick "flash" picture right after the Post screen. I've even system restored to an earlier time, a month, to no avail. Trippy stuff! Thanks for the feedback however.

Change the Reg Key HKU\.Default\Control Panel\Desktop\Wallpaper

Double-click on that entry and remove the value if you don't want a background.

ive seen this done in vista, & wondering if xp has the same feature seems it has though im not 100% certain

if non of the above work , and the pic is before xp loader screen ,
start / run / type msconfig

under boot.ini there is an option to untick

nogui boot , removes the xp screen and possibly the other.

seems some ones having a laugh, works the same on vista.
