The PCG-F70A is an antique. AMD K6-2 & max of 256MB RAM? I'm sure XP doesn't run very well on it.

If USB isn't an option in the boot order, you're out of luck. Replace the broken CD/DVD drive or better yet, buy a more modern laptop. I don't understand your comment about the flash memory.

What is wrong with your Windows installtaion ?

Tell us everthing that you can come up with.

You don't necessarly need to re-install XP to fix most problems.
.....

"do solve this problem whit flash its bios."

If there is no option to boot the computer from a USB drive, there is probably no option to do that in any bios version. The option of booting a computer from a USB drive was rarely there in a computer's bios as old as on your computer.

Even if you could boot the computer from a USB device....

In most cases, you CANNOT install XP from an XP CD in a USB optical drive because the intial files loaded from the XP CANNOT recognizxe the PnP ID string of the USB optical drive model. In that case, all you see is a blue screen when the XP CD loads and nothing further happens.
.....

Install XP from scratch when you can't install it from an optical drive or a USB connected drive.

"Sony vaio PCGF70A"

Old Sony models have TWO model numbers. One on a label on the outside of the computer, and one shown in the bios Setup.

Sony only has info about the model number shown in the bios Setup.

The model shown in the bios Setup in this case can be any one of:

PCGF701, PCGF707, PCGF709, or PCGF709K
....

For PCGF701, PCGF707, and PCGF709

Not much there.

Your notebook came with either Windows 98SE or Windows 2000.

XP just barely runs as it was intended to when you have 256 mb of ram installed.
