Specs: Windos XP Media Center , No idea sorry
Two nights ago I decided to install Windows 7 Beta.
(Official one from I Did not wont to get rid
of XP so i made a partition and kept XP as my default OS.
I used Windows 7 for a bit and decided to see how games
would run on it. i installed one of the Sims since it was just there and it ran fine. I restarted my compter and I got
a black screen with a blinking white under score on the
left hand corner. I searched forums to try and find the
answer but nothing worked.
I also can not find my Windows XP disk so i can not boot
from disk or sun in safe mod (Since the logo never comes
up) or run recovery console. Thanks in advance!

The logo never comes up...

Do you get the system page when you first boot up or just the blinking curser immediately?

If you do not get the system page or logo ...just the blinking curser immediately on start up then I think that your CMOS battery may be dead or the BIOS has corrupted.

If the system page comes up and then goes to the black screen then it is locked up on the harddrive or possibly a dislodged piece of hardware. More than likely the harddrive has started to fail you. This van be checked by entering the BIOS and enabling the S.M.A.R.T. drive program to see what it has to say about the harddrive

Not a bios issue.

That is a sign of no master boot record.

You need your xp disk to run fixmbr and fixboot via recovery console.

Hopefully you have backed up your important data and you have regularlly updated and scanned for virus's.
