black screen on xp install

Specs: Windows XP
ok i recently had stability issues with my xp sp2 so i decided to do a fresh install on install it would run all checks and install drivers but then bsod when it went to install xp so i gave up and swapped the hd out and put a old one in format and install went fine untill windows wanted to optimise screen res then black screen no vga signal swapped graphics cards still nothing im totaly stuck reset the jumpers and took out cmos battery to see if that fixed but no joy .my baby daughter has a habbit of hitting the power button on and off as many times as poss before i can catch her . was wondering if that may of damaged the board .specs are 4 gig ddr3 corsair psu 850 corsair asus m4a89gtd pro mobo and a AMD phenom x6 1055t 2.81 gig cpu any help would be greatly appreciated

DId you disable in Setup when you installed another display card?

i was using the on board video when it stopped working i cant even get bios to post now or if it is i cant see as the screen is black

Try removing one of the RAM sticks. If it fails, try the other. You are testing for a bad RAM stick.

ok tryed that still nothing but when i tryed one of the sticks the key board would not power up

The one that would not power the keyboard MAY be bad. Still, one stick should have allowed you to get into the Setup. With one stick, it has to go into the slot closest to the CPU (A1).
2.7 from the manual Did you use the MemOK! button and watch the Mem LED's?

Beep codes or anything?

By default, the BIOS should appear on all displays that are active. Try plugging the monitor into each VGA port.
