BIOS sata 1,2,3,4, not detected

Specs: Windows XP, 512
when i startup my computer it says , reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device. all the buttons on the keyboard dont work. but sometimes i can get the bios mode up. in bios it says sata 1,2,3,4 not detected.? i had this happen before and it was a loose wire on the hard drive , sorry not this time. i started using facebook and been getting a script error message. sorry im looking for the message, i saved it some where. any ideas? thanks for the help,jeff

sorry i dont have a cd to reboot. it never came with a cd. sorry for yapp'n on , im new with this and just a bit worried.

I am really sorry to say but it sounds like your hard drive died.

Web page script errors are unrelated to hardware issues.

Asking for boot device means failed hard drive or corrupted [no boot sector] drive. no keyboard points to mainboard failure.

Buy a new computer?

thanks i was hoping not but.....
is mainboard the motherboard? do i have replace both the hard drive and the mainboard? or are they the same?
dont have the cash for a new computer. jeff
