Battery Wierdness in XP Pro

OK this is wierd,

First thing I noticed was that the Standby Button was greyed out. But wasn't worried cos i don;t really use it, then when I went into the power options in control panel the Power Meter settings were missing s i could see how much battery there was. I went into Device Manager and there are no Batteries listed in device manager. I've checked the BIOS and it can see the battery OK, and it is charging the battery OK.

If I unplug the laptop from the AC power the laptop continues to work, taking power from the battery, but i get no indications on battery levels.

If I didn't know better i'd say that XP thought it was on a desktop not a laptop.

I've put another HDD with an identical XP Pro Sp3 image on it and its working ok with that so it seems to be an XP thing.

Any ideas anyone?

... you could try a system restore to a date when it was working fine, I'd would suggest this be done in "safe mode"

... if the restore does'nt work you could try this Restore Power Schemes/Configurations "reg" fix:

... download, save, right click option "merge"
