audio device won't start

Specs: Windows XP
Audio & video devices won't start. I've ried everything with drivers to no avail. I must have installed the PCI card improperly. The card fits into PCI slot ok but there is a cord that I think plugs into the output slot on the PCI card and into a spot on the motherboard marked panel 1 on the schematic diagram. Did I do something wrong with the installation?

Can your audio & video devices be detected in Device Manager? If yes, maybe the drivers are the cause.

Hope this helps:

In my exprience when it comes to installing differant H.W. ,some will tell you at some point during the installation to plug the device in, others want the device installed B/4 installing drivers and software ! It really just depends in what the manufactuer directions say . For instance my printer when installing the software/drivers told me at a certain point to plug the printer to any available USB slot ! Read the instructions closely,if you do not have them you should be able to find them online ?
Good Luck, Nick

Device manager shows that the devices are installed Driver update queries reply that my drivers are up-to-date or are the best available. I get an error message saying the device won't start.when attempting to play a video using Windows Media Player or video and sound from a web site. Device Manager has the yellow triangle on the av '97 vinyl combo driver and hardware says device will not start (Code 10). I get a code 32 error code and a message that says the device won't start. The media card was configured for Win XP Home. I've updated to XP Pro. Would that make a difference?
