APC UPS PowerChute can't hibernate XP

August 18, 2010 at 21:56:45
Specs: Windows XP, C i3 530 2.93GHz / 2GB DDR2 1333MHz
I have APC Back-UPS ES 650Y-IN. My PC is dual-booted with Windows XP SP3 32-bit and Windows 7 64-bit. The APC PowerChute Personal Edition 2.2 works fine in Windows 7. It can gracefully hibernate/shutdown the PC as per the runtime settings in the software. But the APC PowerChute Personal Edition 2.0 in Windows XP is unable to gracefully hibernate/shutdown the PC as per the runtime settings in the software. I have disabled several services in Windows XP. Could this be the reason? On which services the software has dependency? Or could it be due to some bad drivers?

Besides, can the PC resumes from hibernation when AC power comes back? If so, what settings are required?

Dear lahratla,

May be your software needs Power Chute Personal Edition 2.0/2.2 Update Patch, you can download it from APC site.
Update your software and then your pc can gracefully hibernate/shutdown.

According to APC PowerChute Personal Edition Operating System Compatibility Chart (CLICK ME), you are running a version that does not work with Windows XP.

I am using APC PowerChute Personal Edition 2.0 for Windows XP SP3.

And for Windows 7, version 2.2
