Specs: Windows XP
I get this very annoying chirping, squeaking, clicking sounds when using Windows Media player (WMP). Comes out of both speakers, sometimes, switches from side to side. I updated the to version 11 and syill have this problem. Its not my spreakers 'cause it doesn't dive me problems when using ITunes, videos on Youtube or just playing mp3's. Seems to be just with wmv files or anything or anything played through WMP. I don't have any weatherbug (as was previously discussed in another question) or anything like that running, I don't even have to be connected to the internet to get this problem. Any suggestions?

Try updating your sound drivers. Also, if you are getting all of
your files from the same source, it could be that you are getting
bad files

All my drivers are up to date. And like I said, all my other sound programs (that use the speakers/sound drivers) don't give me this problem, its only with WMP. And, its only with wmv files, not mp3s played using WMP. I get my wmv files from all over the place (web downloads, email attachments, etc.).

Have you got a USB device that is repeatedly attempting to and failing to connect?

Check the WinXP sound schemes and see if your sound sounds like the "Device Connect" and "Device Disconnect" sounds. If it does then this is the most likely cause.

When everything else fails, read the instructions.
