I pluged in my droid 2 when i unpluged it a loud weird noise came through the speaker high pitched. i turned off the computer and now none of the usb ports are working. My mouse is wireless via a usb port now very difficult to move around computer.
Help please.Thank you for the info, a bit more info i tried uninstalling it and re installing it then a little window at the bottom of the screen read, a usb device exceeded the power limits of its hub port. would this confirm a short, or is there another way to fix this my self? Thanks
Sounds like the usb controller died/shorted out. I would suggest taking it to a computer shop to confirm. Answers are only as good as the information you provide.
How to properly post a question:
Sorry no tech support via PM's
if you could create a bootable cd from this & boot from it with only the usb mouse, I would check if the mouse works now. http://distrowatch.com/?newsid=06963

thanks not sure if im using this correctly. thank you for your help but i have additional information. I disabled the usb port then re enabled it, it didnt work. I then via devise manager i uninstalled all 4 or 5 then reinstalled. a window at the bottom of the screen read " A usb device exceeded the power limits of its hub port" does this confirm it shorted out. Also if i plug in a jump drive it doesn't work but the light comes on on it. is there a way to fix this my self. Thank you so much for your help !
