Try running CHKDSK.

2 Solutions:

1. Check system restore for any restore points BEFORE the virus got onto your computer. If there is one, then restore back to that point.
2. Last Resort - Backup all your files and reinstall Windows XP.

I never trust getting a virus out. Just reload the whole thing from OEM disks and use more best practices to avoid this issue.

Check system restore for any restore points BEFORE the virus got onto your computer.

Sometimes I wonder where people find this information...once you acquire a virus, you can do tons of system restores and not get it out...it just won't happen

You can try trojan remover and hitman pro and fix all the problems they find.
Another solution if your pc is 32 bit you can try combofix.
