1x1 in white box in middle of desktop

Microsoft Windows xp professional w/sp2

Specs: Windows XP
I recently cloned my HD onto a newer HDD and while using the newly cloned drive, I noticed that there was a white box in the middle of my desktop about 1x1 in. Whenever I open windows that overlap this area in the middle of my screen the white box takes on whatever image or text overlapped it. For example I opened an image of the American Flag and now I have a small red and white 1x1 square in overlapping all windows/folders currently open.

I thought this may be an issue because of the cloned HD, but when I booted off of the old HD, the problem was there as well.

Now I've read that unchecking all boxes in the Desktop>Properties>Desktop Tab>Customize Desktop>Web Tab, will fix this issue, but that is not the case for my system.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, this is an annoyance beyond belief

Try updating graphics driver (or MB driver for on board graphics)

I did that twice before and now I've done it two more times, the box doesn't appear for a good 2-3 minutes after boot up, but when it does, it stays until I restart....
