.. refers to a location that is unavailable.

Specs: Windows XP, Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1.86GHz
Upon my last few reboots I am starting to get a strange error. When the PC is rebooted I get a window "Save file as" and a PDF file format is selected. Even when I try to close the window, it will popup again after few seconds. Beside of this, when I try to save something to my desktop WinXP or to anywhere else it gives me an error message saying...

"C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Desktop refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure the disk is properly inserted, or that you are connected to the Internet or you network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the information may have been moved to a diffierent location."

If uninstalled the PDF creator from my PC and have run the Antivir scan, but nothing strange has been found except (I am translating it from German to English):
The searching for hidden objects gets started. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ControlSet003\Services\NtmsSvc\Config\Standalone\drivelist
[Note] The registry entry is not visible.

I've tried to create a folder named "LocalService" in C:\Documents and Settings\ but I get the error message that the folder exists already. But it doesn't, even when I unhide hidden folders in the view. Well if my disk wasnt 'properly inserted' I wouldnt be able to write this message. Any ideas what's going on here? Thanks in advance.

"have run the Antivir scan"
Dos'nt mean you are not infected, let's try some other tools.

VIPRE Rescue Program

Try it in Safe mode.
If it won't run, rename the downloaded mbam-setup.exe file to mb.exe to help work around certain malware that will block it from being run.
If it still will not run.
1: Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features and uninstall Malwarebytes.
Next redownload Malwarebytes but rename it before you download it to your desktop. As you are in the process of downloading when you get to the point that the "enter name of file to save to" box appears, in the "filename" slot, rename mbam-setup.exe to something.exe, then click Save.
If it installed but will not run, navigate to this folder:
2: C:\Programs Files\Malwarebytes' AntiMalware
At the top of the page, Tools > Folder Options > View, click > Show hidden files and folders and untick > Hide extensions for known file types.

Rename all the .exe files in the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware folder and try to run it again.
When it opens, update 1st.

The ESET Online Scanner saves a log file after running, which can be examined or sent in to ESET for further analysis. The path to the log file is "C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt". You can view this file by navigating to the directory and double-clicking on it in Windows Explorer, or by copying and pasting the path specification above (including the quotation marks) into the Start ? Run dialog box from the Start Menu on the desktop.

Thanks for your help. After hours of investigations and with the help of a colleague we discovered what caused the issue.
We checked the ongoing programms in the task manager used by "user" not by system and switched them off one by one. Than we checked the services that are used by "user" and switched them off one by one. Finally we discovered that the window "Save file as" and a PDF file format is selected disappeared, when the service "Druckwarteschlange" (print queue) is disabled. When I enabled the service again, the window "Save file as" appeared again.
So I checked all printers on my system and found out that Adobe Acrobat PDF printer has 1 document in his queue that for whatever reason was unable to print or save.
I uninstalled adobe professional from my PC and enabled the service "Printer queue) again and finally the window disappeared and the error message as wel: "C:\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Desktop refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure the disk is properly inserted, or that you are connected to the Internet or you network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the information may have been moved to a diffierent location."

Thanks for your help.
Cheers Elli

Open Windows Explorer-Options - and select the 'show hidden' and 'show system' files options.
Then goto C:\Doc and settings\NetworkService (or LocalService folder) Under this folder..if there is no Desktop folder, create one a blank folder called - Desktop in both Folders, Local Services and Network Services as required. If present don't make a new folder.
