Solved Windows vista staying stuck on welcome screen

Specs: Windows vista home premium, 3GB ddr3 memory
Windows vista staying stuck on welcome screen, my laptop is an old acer aspire 5738z which always keeps staying stuck on welcome screen even if I load it up into safe mode. Even got to point of putting it into recovery mode but last restore points have all been lost! The only thing I can think of is that there is only 5-6GB of space left on the drive, which is causing the software to lag?! Otherwise I do not know what to do! I just need my important files then I'm buying a new laptop!

Try this.

How to use a Lazesoft Windows Recovery CD or USB device to fix the boot problems if your Windows operating system does not start correctly.
"It is very common for PC users to be faced with a Windows crash. When this happens, the dreaded 'Blue Screen of Death' pops up, or your PC has a black screen and can not boot or start up"

✔ Best Answer
Tap F8 at startup & select Safe Mode with Command Prompt. Once that comes up, type sfc /scannow, press Enter & let it do it's thing.

Once you get back into Windows, concentrate on doing some house cleaning. You didn't say how big your HDD is but if there's only 5GB free space, you probably have a lot of useless garbage taking up space. Empty the Recycle Bin. Start uninstalling any programs or games you no longer use. Copy your important files to CDs, DVDs, an external HDD, or USB stick & then delete them from the laptop's HDD. (NOTE: USB sticks are for temporary storage only & are not reliable for long term). And then run CCleaner-Slim to clear out the accumulation of internet garbage. (Be patient, the 1st run takes time).
