Windows Vista failed to start error message

Specs: Windows Vista
When I open it says "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem: 1. Insert your windows installation disc and reestart your computer. 2. Choose your language settings, and then click next. 3. Click repair your computer." The problem is that I dont have the installation disc and I have an essay due after tommorow and i really need the files on the computer to pass History. PLEASE HELP.

Try booting then tap F8 to get a boot menu. Choose last good configuration or safe mode.

I've tried it and it still doesn't work. Still gives me the same message.

Do u have any linux live disc? If not download linux puppy seamonkey (only 100mb) and burn iso file then boot from cd rom. Now u should able to take out or read your files.
