It is the reminder for the Hewlett Packard Extended Service Contract that's stopped working. It's not an essential component for the correct running of your PC.

Moreover, if you didn't sign up for an extended contract with HP, you don't need that reminder anyway, it's irrelevant.

You can safely disable it which should supress the error message.

Easiest way to permanently disable a startup item (but still allowing you to re-enable it if you wish) is to download 'Startup Control Panel' from here:

Install it (or just run the 'exe' file if you decide to download that).

Look under all the tabs for ESAdvREMINtegrator.exe, or Hewlett Packard Extended Service Contract Reminder

Right-click that entry and choose "Disable"

Close the box.

Restart Windows to check that the error has gone.

Hi and thankyou so much for your fast reply to me and your advice! I understand some of what you are telling me but is there a way for me to get into my computer where that would be without me having to download something? I am scared of downloading things I am not familar with since I am older~I really do appreciate your time and input~~My laptop is new and that thing is driving me nuts! I do feel better now that you say its not anything crucial~I do know enough to get into my control panel and the options there~can you simplify that for me and guide me from there so I can do it without the download? Thankyou again for your help~ this little old lady appreciates it! God Bless!

Sorry, I've been poorly but ok now.

Windows Vista has a built-in anti-spyware program called 'Windows Defender', you can use that to disable startup items.

There should be a gray castle icon in the system tray where the time is shown on far right at the bottom. Double-click that icon.

If no castle icon there, click the 'Start' globe at bottom left, then 'All Programs' then click 'Windows Defender' in the programs list.

In the 'Windows Defender' window, click 'Tools', then 'Software Explorer'.

This presents you with a list of all the items that start with Windows in the left pane, listed by manufacturer of the software item.

Highlight the item under 'Hewlett Packard' which refers to ESAdvREMINtegrator.exe, or Hewlett Packard Extended Service Contract Reminder.

Now click 'Disable' at bottom right.

Close the Windows Defender window.

Restart your PC.

I suggested downloading something to do the same job because it's easier to use than Windows Defender for some people, but I appreciate that downloading stuff can also be a daunting task if you've never done it before.

Good luck and I hope we can help you again.
