windows installer for Vista

Specs: xp pro., 2.4ghz /2gb
My friend is using vista and Windows installer is missing so I was going to reinstall the following version but I am unsure if I have to install all the files or just one.Could anyone help.

Version 4.5
For Windows Vista, Windows Vista Service Pack 1 and Windows Server 2008:
x86 Platform: Windows6.0-KB942288-v2-x86.msu
x64 Platform: Windows6.0-KB942288-v2-x64.msu
IA64 Platform: Windows6.0-KB942288-v2-ia64.msu

That depends on the processing platform of your friends PC.

Look here for explanation and decide which one is your friends:
IA64 -
X64 -
X86 - (X86 is most common)

I then tried to install them and got this message:This update does not apply to your system.
The problem seems to be as these are updates there does not seem any program installed so there is no program to update.Is there a full program that can be installed.
