Windows D drive is full but no files show up

Microsoft Windows vista ultimate w/ sp1...
April 5, 2010 at 05:49:28
Specs: Windows Vista
So my computer is telling me that my second partition drive (D Drive) is full, and it wants me to empty out some of the files. When I search the D Drive, it tells me that there are no files in there. I was just wondering if that is an error, or if the files are hidden?

Not to make it more complicated but what is the command for the search for windows vista home edition? Oh I have an error message from the black command prompt window. It says "denied because: I do not have sufficient privileges. You have to invoke this utility running in elevated mode."

Why am I doing this ...what is it supposed to fix?

Thanks! :-)

go to the command prompt off the start menu and right mouse click as choose run as administrator

chkdsk will give a accurate report of files and directories/disk size.

You can't fix anything until we know what is broken.

the problem turned out to be the files on the d drive partition needed to be deleted in order for that error message to stop showing up.

Im actually having the same problem, with the "access denied" under command prompt also. Additionally, when I right-click "run" to select "as Administrator", the option isn't there...? You mind offering your knowledge?

I am having the same issue with an external drive that has been working perfectly until a couple days ago. If anyone would mind sharing knowledge, it would be greatly appreciated.

For example run chkdsk d: and it shows nothing doesn't say anything. Do you have a d: drive?
