Specs: Windows Vista
I have a old favourite keyboard that is compatible with window xp, but I just bought a new computer with windows vista. Is there anyway I can still use my old keyboard? The new vista wouldn't recognize it right now. Thanks!

Your old keyboard should work with Windows Vista.
Is it PS/2 or USB ?
If USB, do the USB ports work for other devices ?
Is it wireless ?
Does your mouse work ?

My keyboard is an old Logitech access keyboard that is a few years old and is not wireless. Its box just said "designed for XP". It's PS2 and my PC only has USB, but I have a converter. The number lock light went on when I tried to plug it in, so it must be getting battery from PC, but the monitor says keyboard failure. And it won't let me type. Other USBs work fine. I tried the keyboard on all USBs. My mouse is new and is compatible with vista, so there's no problem with that. Is there a program where I can download to override the incompatibility? I've gotten used to my keyboard and don't want to go spend another $30 for a new one when mines still fine. I'm no good with computers so I don't know what to do. thx for helping

I'm not sure, but I don't think that it's a Vista issue, but rather your adapter may not be working correctly. Is the mouse PS2 or USB ?

The mouse (it is a vista mouse) is USB. And actually, I just tried the adapter out and I know it works because since I have a USB->PS/2 as well as the new PS/2->USB adapter and I used them both with my mouse. So I pretty much went from USB on the mouse, converted it to USB, and then converted it back to USB. The PC still read my mouse. Are you sure that a "designed for windows XP" keyboard should be okay for use in windows vista? Or perhaps my keyboard is just too old. Any other suggestions for me? Thank you so much for the help and the quick replies too :)

I'm not 100% sure, but a keyboard "designed for windows XP" should work with Vista if it works at all. There may be certain shortcut keys, etc. which wouldn't work with Vista, but the keyboard should still work.

Alright, thanks! I just tried the adapter and my keyboard on my old XP PC, and somehow it didn't work either. So I have another question for you. I notice that PS2 plugs on mice are green and on keyboard are purple. The new adapter I got is green, does that matter? Maybe that's why adapter is working for my mouse by not the keyboard?
