Specs: Windows Vista
Please help....I am trying to upgrade vista basic to ultimate. Purchased a certified copy of MS software. I did all pre-install work and when I get to the install point. There are two options, upgrade or install clean copy. The problem is the 'upgrade' is greyed out because it has been disabled. I need to work around this, can you please help?

"I did all pre-install work and when I get to the install point." What work?
All that is required to upgrade is to put the upgrade disk in the drive and it should autorun, if auto run is disabled run setup from the dvd.
"The problem is the 'upgrade' is greyed out because it has been disabled." That tends to indicate there is no OS present to upgrade from.
Maybe some more information on what has been done in your "pre-install work" would help to explain your problem.

Pre-work consisted of backups and logs of current OS. How when attempting to install from an operating OS (Vista Basic) the upgrade doesn't see the working OS? I do not want to install a clean OS. I want to maintain all my files and programs that I currently have. Not sure how to accomplish this.
