why can't my dvd player read burned discs

Specs: Windows Vista
I have a windows vista computer. I have been trying to burn dvds and it is burning and the computer and other computers can read it but when I put it in my dvd plavers it won't play in either of them. I have tryed diffrent kinds of discs, slowing the speeds down, and burning in diffrent programs and nothing has worked.

How are you burning the video files? Are you burning them the way you would just burn data or are you choosing to burn a video DVD?

i guess burn data. how do i burn video dvds? i haven't seen anything for video dvd

You will need burning software such as Nero or Roxio that has the ability to create a video DVD. What burning software are you using now?
