" unable to go online to download them"
1: You have to download from a good computer.

2: Put them on a thumb drive.

3: Copy & Paste them onto your desktop.

What browser are you trying to use to get online? The "SpeedBrowser" mentioned in that error message sounds like a virus to me. Can you try opening Internet Explorer instead and see if that opens properly?

Also, it would not hurt to run some virus removal tools, such as HitMan Pro and Malwarebytes and see what they find.

Even in a book of lies, sometimes you find truth.

Two very good virus check programs have already been given in #1. However, these two freebies are particularly good at unearthing browser related malware:

AdwCleaner:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...
(blue Download button near top - not anything else on the page).
Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run the program. Use the "Scan" button, followed by the "Cleaning" button.

Junkware Removal Tool (JRT)
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...
(blue Download button near top - not anything else on the page).
Download and "Save" the file somewhere. Go to the saved file then double click it to run JRT. It might appear to have stopped at times or flash the screen but sit tight until it has finished.

I would also run Malwarebytes again afterwards - you can get it here:
http://filehippo.com/download_malwa...
(green Download button top right - not anything else on the page)
Install and Run the program but before doing its Scan go to "Settings > Detection and Protection" and put a checkmark in "Scan for rootkits". Quarantine anything it finds.

Please copy/paste the logs on here because even if the symptoms are cured you are likely to still have things lurking around that require further cleaning.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

cyberking, you will not be clean yet. This malware is like cancer, you have to remove it all.

Refer post #2, Copy & Paste the contents of the logs please.

Thanks for prompt reply but still haven't resolved the problem. Not able to use any of the tools you recommended because unable to go online to download them. The only thing my son had on his laptop was SuperSpyware which I ran but didn't turn up anything.

I tried using the Google Chrome browser but kept getting the speed browser error message. Then I tried to open up Internet Explorer which wasn't working properly. You had mentioned that you believed that the speed browser was a virus so I was able to delete it but still not able to go online,Please advise.
