Where are files stored in Vista 4 CD Burning

March 13, 2010 at 08:41:28
Specs: Windows 7
Hi, I right clicked a few files and sent them to the drive to be put on a disc to demonstrate how easy it is. I don't actually want these files on disc. Where is the folder they are stored in by default? Does anyone know?? I'd REALLY appreciate it if someone could assist me a little.

In XP you could just open the drive and delete the files or navigate to the CD Burning folder, but it doesn't appear possible in Vista.

Thanks!!

The answer depends on how you were doing the burning.

1. If you had selected Live File System format, the files are temporarily stored on the DVD media itself.

2. If you had selected Mastered format, the files are temporarily stored on the HDD in the following Vista staging area folder:

C:\Users\{User Name}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Burn\Temporary Burn Folder

I really appreciate your reply, thank you. When I right clicked on the files to send them to the dvd rw I wasn't given the choices you mention. Now, I can't access the DVD Drive without apparently being required to burn the files to disc...which I'd really prefer to avoid.

Thank you again!
