Hey guys. I could really do with your help as i have alot of stuff i really could do without losing.

so my windows vista did an update while i popped out and rebooted itself. because my laptop is dual partitioned with linux ubuntu this is the first os it will boot on a restart so when i come back i find that my laptop has ran out of battery and must of shutdown at the linux username screen similar to vista. I tried to boot my laptop back on to vista and would not boot so i had to flick the switch just a black screen i then did the system repair many many times and i get no success i have tried the hold F8 on boot up and i get nothing to find a restore point i had errors with linux when that loaded up i am guessing that was because vista's update was corrupted when the laptop died on a reboot ..... as with linux i could get the the all corrupted reg key re-written so i have linux back running but i need my vista back for certain softwares etc.....i am having no end of luck and i would like to avoid using the vista repair disc as i will lose linux aswell. is there any ideas you guys have?

is it possible to get into vista directorys to grap a restore point from linux i doubt it but its worth a try?

"...i have tried the hold F8 on boot up and i get nothing to find a restore point..."

... try tapping <F8> again but end up @ command prompt (<< click) then type:

bcdedit /enum [press enter]

... post back anything listed as "unknown" under its relevant {heading}

... eg {bootmgr} << heading

... device <<<>>> unknown

... Posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties
