Vista updates getting bogged down!

I just went to download some updates from Windows Update and my computer's memory and processor seemed to freeze up. Remember about 3 years ago there was an issue getting upates for Windows XP because it was getting close to the end of support. Looks like the same thing is happening with Vista updates. Windows Update says there are 11 important updates for my computer and they are listed but when I go to download them nothing happens and memory appears to get maxed out. Anyone know of any work arounds? Thanks.

I never ran into problems of this sort with XP.

Run through the Vista part of this, starting with the Fixitt:

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

You can disregard the above! When I tried the third time, the updates downloaded with no problem. I guess the update site had a lot of traffic at the time. I think I needed to reboot also to clear some things. Everything's OK now! If someone wants to share any other info about issues with Vista updates, you're welcome to do so! Thanks!

Good to hear and let's hope it lasts. If not try the link I gave above, and/or run these freebies in the order given:

ADWCleaner, Junkware Removal Tool and MalwareBytes. If they find anything paste their logs on here. It sounds to me as if it was a computer glitch and malware is often a cause of those.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
